White Bedding for the Win
Clean, crisp, bright + airy, white bedding is where it’s at!
Today I’d like to share a few things I’ve learned over the years when it comes to white bed linens.
First and foremost, white bedding is absolutely doable with young children. You can tell your husband to have no fear! I have had white bedding for 5+ years with four young children, and if I can keep it white, anyone can keep it white. Because it's white, more than likely, it's bleach-able. I love white bedding for the sheer fact that with kids, all kinds of mishaps occur, and it’s so nice to sanitize with bleach every once in awhile anyway.
I have tried white duvet covers, quilts and coverlets. From personal experience, my white duvet cover was high maintenance. It washed up fairly well, but pressing it was a big pain. Granted, there are many different fabric types, so if you are set on a white duvet, check out the fabric content. Soft cotton/linen blends should smooth out nicely after drying. Be sure to read reviews if provided.
White coverlets and quilts are much more forgiving and kid-friendly in my opinion. I’ve washed and bleached the heck out of my white quilt (shown below) over the years and it still looks awesome!
Here I used white sheets + bedskirt, a floral duvet with a down-alternative comforter insert for umph, and then folded it over the coverlet to expose the pattern (shown below).
Pillows are the spice + magic key to a beautiful bed.
I love how Amanda used soft solids and stripes together on this casual style bed (below)
Add textured dark + sold accents for a modern masculine look.
If you long for a romantic vibe, rich dark walls + brass touches will do the trick every time.
Mixing textiles as well as adding color gives interest, depth, texture and movement.
I’ve come up with a few pillow combinations + accessories you can add to your white bedding to create a fresh, on trend bedroom you'll love to retreat in.
Note: some pillows are pricey than others, but sometimes a splurge is worth it- especially if you’re getting great deals on everything else!
